UltraTone 7500 and 5500

2003-04-16 by soli004

Hello,

I have been using the new inkset for a while with 7500 and are very
happy with it, Pauls neutral curve is great but I'm not a fan of the
warm curve, to brown for my taste. Can I use the Saturation to get
more controll over the tones (less warm etc.)? I'm also planning of
using my 5500 with the inkset for glossy paper. Any advices for that
machine? I'm planning to use it with Pictorico's OHP film for making
digital negatives (I still use my darkroom for silverprints). There
is no curves for 5500 so what will be a good start for it?

Thanks
Regards
Soren

It is definitely a very warm tone. That is the raw carbon tone of the base
"gray" inks. With the older pigments quads form MIS or Piezo/Cone, they
would be that brown when all the dyes burned off.

I doubt it.

What is needed, and I just have not had time, is a few more curves to fill
in the gap. I'll get around to that sometime in the future.

You could look at the neutral curve and try raising the green (toner) curve
about half way to the top. It's takes a bit of tweaking to get the tones
and densities smooth, but controlling the tone by the curves is the best way
to go.

Use more magenta in the epson sliders to get more blue.
