Richard,
Epson has started using different model numbers for some printers
sold in the EU and those sold in the US. Probably to clearly
distinguish models with different voltage requirements.
I had thought that the 1160 was still available in the EU but these
things change rapidly and they may no longer be available new. I see
the 1160 and 3000 listed on the Epson Sweden site:
http://www.epson.se/products/ink.htm
The 1290 is the EU version of the 1280 and as far as I know identical
except for the power supply.
The 890 (same model number in the EU and US) is the A4 version of the
1280/90 printer.
Switching a printer back and forth between color cartridges and a
quad ink setup is not very practical. The amount of ink and time lost
is likely to quickly be greater than the cost of a second printer
used just with the quad inks, especially an 1160 or 890.
I would think that the MIS VM curves for the 1280/90 would also work
with the 890 but I have not heard of anyone doing this yet so there
are no guarantees. However, you can modify his curves if needed.

enough for me currently. Is a 890 than option? I like to use MIS VM
hex-set with Paul Roark workflow. I am curious about curves for this
printer.
