Epson 7600 ???

Epson 7600 ???

2003-04-26 by nakalele2

I am very new to this group, and to digital printing, but am
wondering why there is such a paucity of "chat" concerning the
7600. Is there something other than the price of the machine
that makes it unsuitable for B&W prints? Is everyone waiting to
see what Cone comes up with this summer with before
jumping in?
As someone who is relying on large format prints I would
greatly appreciate any info on the "state of affairs" with this
machine. thanks, doug

Doug,

part of the problem with the 7600 is that it is limited to the chipped carts with
OEM inks. Users of the 7/9000 series are able to put in inks of their choice.
The other limitation is that unlike the 2200, IJC/OPM doesn't support it and
therefore it is difficult to have complete (single-channel) control for bw prints.

Within these limitations, I would bet that ImagePrint offers good bw printing -
and there are possibly other RIPs that can be used to do bw. But when it
comes to high-end RIPs for large format printers, the discussions are usually
about their colour capabilities and hence on the large format list:

Considering how good a printer the 7600 is, I am sure it's a matter of time
before the chip codes are cracked and software like OPM supports it.
Expect lots of "chat" about bw printing then!

Antonis

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
