Digital BW, The Print

Hi!

Just got a 2100 and am trying to get install it. I'm having a bit of 
trouble understanding the documentation and Epson website didn't help. 
So I thought I'd post a few questions. I'm on a mac running OSX but do 
have 9.2.2 as well although I would prefer to stay OSX.

First of all - does the firewire connection work? All I see in the 
documentation is references to the USB driver.

I installed from the cd-rom on sys. 9 first as the installer went into 
classic mode and I've understood that one does not install anything in 
classic. Then I went to OSX and downloaded the latest software for OSX 
from Epson and installed it. The installer did not produce an install 
log so I'm in the dark as to what it actually installed but the Epson 
Printer Utility is there.

Now, I haven't looked at the various utilities that came with the 
printer and perhaps they are not too interesting. Some kind of straight 
printing from a camera? Hmmm. But the Gray Balancer might be usable. Is 
it QSX compatible? Perhaps the installer would warn me but I'm a bit 
nervous with things like these. How usable is this printer anyway on 
OSX?

I had been hoping to be able to use OPM/IJC and was disappointed to 
find that it doesn't as yet work with the 2100. And not on OSX which is 
surprising as gimpprint does.

So I suppose QuadToneRip is my best bet?
