Re: [Digital BW] Re: What to call the prints

Thank you. A rose by any other name is still a rose. An image captured by a box with sensors or film when a button is pressed is still a photograph by any name you want to call it. It seems like the problem is how it's translated to the viewing medium. It really doesn't make any difference. A painting can be a work of art whether oils, acrylics, water colors etc. Why is a photograph different? Because the people who print it feel guilty because they don't use the "accepted" traditional methods? Art is dynamic otherwise it loses it's purpose. We would still be doing cave paintings if the criteria was earth color on walls. Isn't it amazing that they still exist and the folks who made them couldn't care less...I believe. If the purchaser doesn't treat the photo properly it will look like those old photos that are degraded. There is a mutual responsibility by the seller and the buyer. I won't suffer guilt for mistreatment of my stuff! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andr Vallejo" <avs@...> To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2003 10:22 AM Subject: [Digital BW] Re: What to call the prints > Couldnt agree more...! > > Andr Vallejo > http://andrevallejo.net > > Date: Wed, 30 Apr 2003 10:59:21 -0400 > From: "bgs" <bgs@...> > Subject: Re: OT: What to call the prints... > > pictures of things.
