Black and White Printing on an Epson 1280

Greetings I would like to know if anyone is having satisfactory results printing QUALITY B+W images, using the Epson 1280. Are you using custom profiles, or Adobe Gamma? Anything else that you can tell me regarding Paper Type, Settings used , etc., would be greatly appreciated. Thank You DL
