Help with cool curve using Ultratones
2003-05-22 by markaronica
I've just recently begun to experiment with using Ultratones on my Epson 1200 under W2K and PS 7. I was previously using MIS FSN and the Epson driver. I've been generally very happy on my first round of tests with these inks. The ramp is smooth and the highlights and shadows seem to have good separation (although still not quite as good as the piezo software w/ the PT inks). Maybe I need to tweak to reach perfection... However, I've been finding the `cool' curve a bit to purple for my taste (not really a selenium look). However, maybe it is supposed to be this way? The neutral seems to be pretty much right on, and the warm curves are great. I guess my question is how do I adjust the curves to tweak them to my preference? Is there anything written anywhere that explains this? Also, has anyone in the group enhanced the curves for the 1200 / PC platform using the new Ultratones and would be willing to share them with me? One last question, if I create a new curve layer for adjusting the image, will it throw the color balance off? If not, should I do this before converting to RGB, or after? Thanks, Mark
