state of the art solutions for the 2200

state of the art solutions for the 2200

2003-05-23 by Dan Honemann

In the dizzying array of options for printing both color and b&w
through an Epson 2200, my thinking is that the best solution on a PC
platform is to use ImagePrint 5 with custom profiles (supplied at no
charge by Colorbyte, as I understand it) for given papers, namely:

High-gloss:
- Pictorico Photo Gallery Glossy
- Pictorico High Gloss Film
- Epson Professional Glossy (aka Glossy Paper Photo Weight)

Semi-gloss:
- Pictorico Premium Photo Glossy

Matte/Fine-art:
- Epson Enhanced Matte
- Epson Somerset Velvet Fine Art
- Epson Ultrasmooth (still a question mark)
- Epson Watercolor Radiant White
- Hahnemuhle Photo Rag
- Arches Infinity

Before I waste too much money on ink & paper, and bearing in mind
that this is a highly subjective process, I'd like to reduce the
field a bit so that I start with having profiles made for just one
paper in each of the above categories. My thoughts are to begin with
these:

Pictorico Photo Gallery Glossy (high-gloss)
Pictorico Premium Photo Glossy (semi-gloss)
Epson Enahnced Matte
Arches Infinity

Opinions?
