Digital BW, The Print

All this talk of histograms and end points reminds me that Ed said he'd got
a preview scanner histo for vuescan on his 'to do' list. I find the end
point setting of vuescan to be the big flaw in the program. Maybe other
vuescan users who would like that facility could drop Ed a line..?

What do you find problematic with the end-point-setting? I think it works
great on 'auto' (0.05% or something, I use) but don't recall trying
manual...

yeah, I leave mine at 0.01% and do the rest in Photoshop

with the 1680 it clips the black (or the white cos I scan Image) and
sometimes the white point is too far in on the ps histogram. It is probably
a shortcoming in the scanner, but I'd like to correct for it. Numerical
input is really trial and error. Not too much of a problem in the ss4000
though!
