Refilling Carts

Refilling Carts

2003-05-28 by Bill

Great forum. Very knowlegable individuals with professional,
respectful input, feedback.

Once i went to a 1280 with MediaStreet inks and CIS I had an Epson
740 that was sitting around looking forelorn. I took a leap and
converted it to QuadTone for my B&W work. Not being able to find
any workflows for this printer I did what I did in the darkroom and
played around until I seem to have made some progress with prints
using Somerset PE Velvet.

Now, my problem. In the past with the 740 i refilled the colour
carts using a syringe and top filling them. I never had any
problems. As I get ready to refill these carts the info that I have
been reading make the process seem very complicated (bottom filiing,
draining foam, etc. etc.) My fantasy was to refill using bulk MIS
inks (the inkset that I have been trying out) in the same manner
that I used for the colour. The page after page of technical
instructions on various sites is daunting to say the least.

Anyone out there refilled carts using a syringe and top filling??
Any suggestions??

Regards

Bill

Hello Bill,

Go to the website for MIS inks www.inksupply.com and find the page
that gives the instructions on refilling your particular printer's
cartridge. I've been refilling mine with very little trouble since
getting my 1280 printer earlier this year.

Refilling Carts

Thanks Johnny and Alessandro for your input. I will be taking both
of your advice as I ordered some virgin carts from MIS and will also
refill the existing cartridge.

A quick question for anyone who is using MIS quadtones with an Epson.
Could someone run a nozzle check and tell me what they see with
the "colour" cart. When I did this reading from left to right I got
a dark (75%), a light (25%) and then a medium (50%). It appears as
though MIS switched the cyan and magenta. Is this possible???
