Digital BW, The Print

I am just looking into B&W printing. I have been doing color digital
photography for quite some time. I want to start printing some of my photos
in B&W. I am not a professional...just a hobby (but fairly big hobby). What
would be a good starting printer and inks to test the waters, so to speak.
I don't want to spend alot of money at first until I learn more about the
different inks and workflows. Would the MIS inks be my best start?
