Chris thanks for the URL, but unfortunately it does not cover the 1160.

Is my only option to take it in for service? Since I am using a CIS
would I have to put the originally ink cartridges back in?

Thanks

Steve

Re: Help!!! All the lights are blinking on a 1160.

2003-06-03 by Chris Hargens

I can only speak for myself, but what I'd do is check to verify that
the inkpads do indeed need to be replaced. (BTW, is your printer also
refusing to turn off when you push the power button?) If they don't
need to be replaced then I'd search the web for any info about
resetting the counter for the 1160. If they do need to be replaced,
then removing the CFS is probably necessary, unless you can find a
service person within easy driving distance.

Chris, it looks massy back in there. I guess the inkpads need replaced,
and yes the printer is also refusing to turn off. What does that mean?

Thanks for the help

From what I understand, if all lights are blinking and the printer
refuses to turn off, then that means that it is telling you --
rightly or wrongly -- that the inkpads need to be replaced.

You don't have to remove the CFS unless you have to ship the printer. I had
mine serviced with all the bottles etc. intact. The guy wanted it that way.

Steve:

I don't remember which proceedure (#1 or #2) in the mswords web site
but one did the trick on my 1160 with a CIS. You might want to try
these before spending money on Epson service.

After 2 years and over 12 ounces of Gen4 my 1160 lights started flashing and
I was easily able to reset using one of the iterations noted, I forget
which. I ordered two sets of pads, took off the cover to where I could see
the pads and buttoned it back up as they had a long way to go. Fine since.
Anybody want my second set of pads?

I will take the second set of pads if I can get the light to quite flashing.

Re: [Digital BW] Re: Help!!! All the lights are blinking on a 1160.

2003-06-04 by Steven Schaefer

OK, I just got it to work, but it was a little different then procedure
1 for the 1270 type printer.

Here is what I did for the 1160:

Turn off your printer, ensuring that the print head is at it's home location
and locked in place as normal;

2. Power off the printer at the wall or by removing the power cable, for at
least 20 seconds;

3. When you restore power to the printer at the wall socket or by
reinserting the cable, if the lights come back on straight away, the
printer's power switch was 'on' - switch it off and return to step 1;

4. Hold down the paper-feed button and the button with the ink-drops
next to it, and then turn on the printer, still holding the buttons
down;

5. When the paper-out LED flashes, release the buttons;

6. Press and hold the button with the ink-drops until lights flash -
this will
take a few seconds (i.e. then release the button);

7. The printer will now attempt to reset, including resetting the EEPROM
memory and running a short (about 10 seconds) cleaning cycle.

Thanks for all your help.

Steve
