No way of using 2200 two blacks only...?

No way of using 2200 two blacks only...?

2003-07-18 by Andre Vallejo da Silva

It's funny that no one has came out with a profile,or a RIP setting
for using the black and light black of the 2200 to bw
print...probably it could get almost as good as the 3 inks evereyone
says is enough for it...
Anyone aware of developments in this regard? Isn´t it possible to
write a curve that follow this idea?

There IS a way but last I checked it was only available for Mac and
Linux systems.

Anyway, the "light black" on the 2200 is really a sort of sepia
color - it's not gray.

1280 CIS clogged?

2003-07-20 by Harry Saddler

I have an Epson 1280 with an MIS CIS loaded with VM inks. I let the thing
sit for too long between uses, and now the black (K) jets won't print. I
did the usual unclogging tricks, with no success. Then I tried sucking
ink from the bottom of the cart with a syringe... and it feels like
something's plugged: the plunger goes right back when I let it go. Then I
pulled the feed tube off the top of the cart, and stuck a syringe on
that, pulled back; nothing, just a total vaccuum that pulls the plunger
back when I let it go. Would I be right in guessing that the tube's
plugged? Anyone else seen this?

I found the diagnostic evaluation steps and fixes on the MIS website
to be excellent. I followed them once and found that I did have a
permanent clog in the black ink feed line. Even with the line removed
from the cart, I never could clear it and replaced the line.

I have had some stubborn clogs but have always been able to get them to
break loose. Are you using the large 60cc syringe? The small ones just
don't create enough vacuum. I would max out the vacuum and hold it for 30
seconds, then do a couple of quick pull and releases on the syringe and then
hold again for 30 seconds at max vacuum. Things eventually broke free.

I've seen this tube clogging with the orignal Piezography inks. It's the inks
seperating forming sludge in the tubes. You could probably clear it with an agressive
use to the syringe. But I would pull off all the tubes and soak it in warm soapy water.

I had the same problem and tried all the same things. The quickest
way is just replace the black tube cut it off and leave it in the
bundle and tape a new tube in the bundle.

God luck

the black tubes clog. I had them send me some extra tubing and I
just remove that tube, replace it and suction through and keep
going. A bit of a hassle, but workable.
