Re: [Digital BW] Re: coating again

For 8x10s I used EEM but the stock is a bit thin. Again, for this this paper didn't have time to buckle when absorbed water from the coat. I even didn't have to tape the bottom. I wouldn't try it for the bigger size. I print up to 13x19. The rod I ordered has 20" of the wired length so I put the paper sideways, tape the longer edge, and go. I used a few Red River Paper products. My best pick being 65 lb Red River Premium Matte (244 gsm - 12 mil). They have even thicker paper which reproduces well, but it's a bit too yellow for my taste. I haven't tried yet any of the acclaimed Hahnemühle papers, but probably I will end up with them doing my next show. Hope it helps, Jack _________________________________________________ Jack M Kucy JMK Gallery (www.jmk-gallery.com) 917-991-2096 jmk@jmk-gallery.com Member of ASMP (www.asmp.org) _________________________________________________ ...a riveder le stelle claudej1@... wrote: > In a message dated 7/30/2003 1:22:26 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com writes: > > > From: Jack M Kucy <jmk@jmk-gallery.com> > > Subject: Coating - again... > > > > Hi Group, > > After running MIS UT CFS on my 1280 for a while I decided to > > finally to use my custom made 26 inch Mayer Rod (20" wire wound). > > I wasted 2 test prints, since my table was a bit tilted and the > > Hydrocote Polyshield was moving to the right while applying. > > When I fixed that the prints are amazing. > > I use UT with photo black, but after coating with Satin Polyshield > > they look like good Ilford FB glossy - air dried.
