Refilling 1280 Carts

I'm about ready to make the first change of Ultra Tone ink carts in my 1280. My plan is to fill my second set of carts and install them (after letting them sit for 24 hours), refill the set I pulled, tape the bottom and top and let them sit until needed again. Sound like a good plan? How long will they keep? Thanks, Tom
