MUMM Cuvee Napa exhibit

MUMM Cuvee Napa exhibit

2003-08-10 by Paul Roark

On my recent trip through the SF Bay area and Napa, I had the pleasure of
visiting the MUMM Cuvee Napa Gallery. It currently contains an exhibit of
works on loan from Matthew Adams, President of The Ansel Adams Gallery and
grandson of AA. I think this may be the finest collection of prints I've
ever seen. I highly recommend a visit to the Mumm Napa gallery.

Note that the exhibit includes some "carbon pigment" prints.

Thanks for the tip, Paul. My wife and I were up there today and I
agree it's well worth the trip. I know it's the finest collection
I've ever seen. Twenty some odd Adams prints and at least that many
more from other folks. If you are anywhere close to the Napa Valley
stop in.

A question on the "carbon pigment" prints in the show. I didn't
take that to mean inkjet as they described the process as very old.
I did see some "giclee" prints though but they were color.

OK, I missed the description of the process. There was an old carbon
process that was considered very stable by some. I suspect the carbon
particle size in the old process is much larger than what we are using.
