Epson 1160 Printer

Epson 1160 Printer

2003-08-20 by Kimberly MacLoud

I've read a lot about the Epson 1160 online. I want to make as
large as I can afford, black and white prints. Sounds like it does
a beautiful job. My ideal is to someday be able to hand-color
digital prints. I see rarely an 1160 on eBay. Would I be crazy to
buy from a stranger? If I need to buy new, what would be the best
choice.
thank you, !Kimberly

Or you could contact Arditos to find out if they have any refurbished
1160's for sale.

Kimberly,

Yes & No... Sometimes they are heavily used - and
sometimes you get one right out of the box that
grandma used to make one print of her grand-kiddies.
(epson ebay roulette)

Now that that is said, I purchased an 1160 from 'bay
for $75 with shipping (so you can get them cheap
enough). This was with the intent of sending it to
ardito's, who can completely refurbish that machine
for $249 with a 90 day warranty.

So, you can get a "new" 1160 for a minimum of $324 if
you want the hassle of finding and refurbishing it. I
had planned to do this - but as a 1280 is currently
$399 from Epson I sold the 1160 and bought a 1280
silver (1 year warranty). I find the 1280 to be a
better machine, but a bit slower due to it's increased
resolution.

Hope this helps a wee bit.

I got my 1160 from GeoData Systems, as a refurb. Been using it for
about 2 years with MIS-FS ink and the Randall workflow. N
Very good results, no problems.
