Damn, I hate spammers.
Don't click on this link as you just end up with a ton of popups and other
software that is trying to install on your machine.
I'll never open a free website again.

There is a free download called ad aware that can scan your computer
for this sort of software that is installed on your hard drive
without your knowledge. The first time I ran it, it found close to
100 apps that should not have been there. I now run it once a week
and always come up with 5-10, despite being careful on line. A
google search should find it.

Don't go there, all you get is one popup after another - no pictures.

Alessandro,

And lots of pop-ups! This and the "Model Photo..." from fotoman are spam
that is slipping by Yahoo. I can see where these people joined the group but
cannot find a record of them in the membership list. Typically they join
just before they send out the spam. Hit and run artists.

I am deleting these posts from the forum when I find them but for those of
us who receive individual e-mails you get a copy almost as soon as it is
posted.

All I got from that was a bunch of rude pop-up windows, invitations to
install Flash, and a Page Not Found error. Thanks.

Paul,
Post with messages like "New Pics", "Pictures Uploaded", "Site up"
are usually spam bait for pop-up ads.
Cheers,
Andre

Really? Not in the other digital photography groups I'm in.

If this is spam bait, I hope whoever owns the list bans the poster.

Paul,

We seem to be getting hit with this junk about once a week and each time I
remove the post, the member and ban the e-mail address but obviously they
keep coming back with new addresses.

Best to just ignore stuff like this and unless there is some accompanying
text explaining what the link is about, don't click on it. Since you did
click on it I would suggest deleting your temporary internet files, history
and cookies. Some pieces of "ad ware" or "spy ware" were probably downloaded
to your computer which I suspect is the point of the link.

I would like to recommend that legitimate members of this
discussion group never post a message here that consists
only of a URL and subject line such as "New Pictures,"
"Site Ready," "Pictures Uploaded," etc. Then, we can all
feel comfortable about deleting them before wasting our
time with them. I don't know if a notice to that affect, on the
opening page that all new members see, would help or
not. ??

It would probably help the spammers become more deceptive!

That's undoubtedly true. However, they haven't yet figured out a way to defeat Spybot and Adware. And, much thanks to those folks.

Some time ago, some spywares were actually desactivating anti-spyware
programs such as Ad-Aware. Lavasoft identified the offenders and
treatened criminal pursuit and it stopped. Well, not entirely... It's
always a good thing to check if the firewall and anti-virus software
is activated and running.
Cheers,
Andre

Hi Ken,

A couple of weeks ago, I went against your sage advice and responded to one
of the spammers to this list. I asked the spammer to stop sending crap to
our list and used some 'choice' four letter words. He responded immediately
from the same email address and said:

"Oh, what list do you mean? I spam ALL the lists on Yahoo..."

I just gave up. I get the digest and just scroll right by them... :)
