Digital BW, The Print

I am just getting into digital printing and now it looks like I need 
to do some good b&w prints on a budget.  Which means from the 
research that I have done that black only is the way to go.  I am 
wondering what the lowest cost printer will offer decent quality.  
What I need to print for is my wife is getting into acting and I just 
tooks some headshots of her with our Canon D30.  We found a few that 
she likes and wants to print to send out to casting directors.  
Anyway the questiong I am asking do I need a Epson 1280 or will a 
epson 820 or Canon i850 work.  I don't need bigger prints than an 8 x 
10 now.  I tried searching for messages on this but found either too 
many to sort through or none at all.  Sorry if this has been asked a 
million times.  Thanks for your advice.
