1160 - lights flashing and head banging
2003-09-08 by Reinier van der Ryst
Sorry for re-posting this, but the subject of my previous may have been a bit obscure. I removed the head from my 1160 because the black and cyan heads were completely blocked. I backsucked windex and finally warm distilled water through the heads over a number of days. Finally I dried the head with a hair drier periodically over a period of one hour. I re-installed the head, oiled the head guide and switched on. Problems!!! The head moves against the little white tongue, to the left of the head, but it does not get pulled down. Then the two ink lights (left two lights) come on and stays on. Then the power light and the paper feed light start flashing at one second intervals. (I reset the the waste pad counter also but it makes no difference.) If I pull the white tongue down before switching on, the two ink lights come on, the head moves about four cm to the left, stops, moves left nearly to the end, stops again and the slams violently against the left stop. Then the power and paper feed lights start flashing at one second intervals. The printer is about three years old and has had about sixteen ounces of black and eight ounces of each of the VM-S inks through it. What can I do - retire it and get a 1290? Or what? Reinier
