Did you verify with Lyson that their Quad Black inks for Canon printers
were suitable for the i950? I have had wonderful results with those inks
in Canon S9000 and S900 printers (both of which use the same print head) -
hundreds of 8x10 prints with no clogging issues. But it is my
understanding that the i950 uses a different print head, which puts out
droplets one-half the volume of the 900/9000 head. It's possible that the
Canon OEM inks are thin enough to work in both of these heads, but that the
Lyson Quad Black inks are not. You might check with Lyson to see what they
say.
If it turns out that the Quads aren't suitable for the i950, I was told
today that the S9000 printers are now available (at my local store) for
$299US. If I didn't already have a backup (in the form of my S900) I'd be
in line to get one of these. No doubt this is a closeout process for
Canon, now that the 9100 models are out. But as I say, I've had wonderful
results with my S9000 and Quad Black inks.
Cheers,
Kip
