Salute To A Grand Printer

Salute To A Grand Printer

2003-09-18 by Clayton Jones

Hello All,

Yesterday, after 11 years of flawless service, I retired my trusty
Panasonic 1124i dot-matrix printer. This printer has been such a
faithful workhorse that I feel it deserves a public acknowledgement of
it's many years of service.

It has printed miles of paper and countless labels for clients'
mailing lists over the years. It never slipped a belt or required
service of any kind, other than new ribbons. I've kept it on line the
last few years just for printing source code on fanfold paper, and it
still works perfectly today. However, all things must pass, and it
has been retired to make room for a shiny new Epson 2200.

Farewell old friend, thank you for many years of faithful service.

Regards,
Clayton

Reminds me of an ugly old flashlight I had for 20 years when I
finally threw it in the trash can outside. That night when I was
going to my car I saw light coming out of the trash can. Yup, the
trusty 'ol flashlight was still faithfully shining away. Pulled it
out of the trash and still have it today.

Kinda make you feel guilty, doesn't it..."How can you just toss me
aside after all my years of service!" <g>

I think I'll take the printer to the local Goodwill with a bunch of
paper and a spare ribbon. Surely someone will make use of it.

Regards,
Clayton

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
