StudioPrint Users: Help needed !
2003-09-27 by Peter Baumbach
Some time ago I have been complaining about "ugly vertical stripes" with a StudioPrint demo version and an Epson 7600. Meanwhile I could isolate the problem: it seems that it only occurs in one of the "variable" dot modes. To be sure that it is not my new printer: could you please print a cmyk wedge (each channel continually varies from 0% to 100%) without any profile attached and see if the tonal variations are really smooth and monotonously increasing ? Print environment settings: dot size = "variable1" or "variable2"; resolution =1440x720 dpi, dithering = "stochastic" or "error diffusion" or "smart diffusion". It would be great if you could help me with doing this test. I am in need to soon make a decision which RIP to buy (ImagePrint or StudioPrint: the ImagePrint demo does not seem to make any problems with stripes but I like the free choice of ink controls and ink limiting settings in StudioPrint and the possibility to use PiezoTone Neutral and Cool inks together).
