* Subject: [Digital BW] Which inks for the 1280.
*
*
* O.K., I have the 1280 which is beeing touted as the one of
* the best for B&W. I have the standard Epson black ink
* cartridge and the standard Epson colour
* cartridge. I am seeing that others are using different inks
* to get better results. So then should i toss the Epson
* standard cartridges and go for somehting
* better suggested here?
* Which ones can you suggest and where and how do i get them?
* I live in Bangkok and will probably have to order and import.
* Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Regards to
* all........Brad.

Brad,
My top choices for the 1280 as a dedicated B&W printer would be one of the 4
PiezoTone ink sets.
http://www.inkjetmall.com/
Or the MIS UltraTone variable hue ink set.
http://www.inksupply.com/
For the PiezoTone inks you need the Piezo plug-in or better the Image Export
BW plug-in (a more updated version of the Piezo plug-in) $150 from:
http://www.bwguys.com/
For the UltraTones you use Paul Roark's RGB separation curve workflow which
is free.
You can also use either the free QuadTone RIP:
http://harrington.com/QuadToneRIP.html
Or OPM/IJC ($250?):
http://www.bowhaus.com/inkjetcontrol/
With any of the ink sets but they are both for Mac and not Windows. Some
folks are now getting QuadTone RIP running under Linux though.
Hope that gives you a starting point.
