MIS 7600 (Ultrachrome Equiv.) Inks in 2200 for color

I'm enjoying the list and glad that I joined. I've been experimenting on and off with alternative inks, CIS systems, etc. since about 1999-2000 when I was part of the now defunct Mitch Leben Epson Inkjet list. Prior to buying the 2200 I had been using Mediastreet's Gen 4 inks in an 1160 via a CIS. Even with lots of profile experimentation I could never get that combo to match the quality of an Epson dye print. With the 2200 I decided I would just bite the bullet on ink costs and use it with Epson inks for color output. Well, the output (even with just the optional Epson profiles) has been outstanding but placing a $200 plus ink order to Atlex this morning has me thinking CIS again. MIS tells me they're just waiting for chips and then can ship their 2200 CFS unit. That would be great if I can get the right ink into it. I've searched the archives and have found a limited amount of info. about people's experience with the MIS Ultrachrome clones in a 2200. How well do they work? With the right profile are they a quality match for the Epson inks? Are they consistent? If they do work well with the right profiles, which profiles and/or profiling systems have people used sucessfully with them? I should add that I don't use glossy papers so matte paper performance is really all I'm concerned with. Are the actual Epson Ultrachrome inks available in bulk or would one need to drain 220 ml. carts? Thanks in advance for any info. Also, thank you to Paul R. for his work on the Ultra-Tone set. I've just order U-T cartridges for my 1160 and if they work out well I'll CIS the 1160 with Ultra-tones as a dedicated B&W printer. I've used dedicated B&W printers in the past but its just recently that the volume of my B&W printing brings me to try it again. Great list, really seems to be hopping. Cheers, Sean Reid
