question about 6 Color Epson Printer Full Spectrum Workflow

question about 6 Color Epson Printer Full Spectrum Workflow

2003-11-05 by radonprojects

Hi! New to working with MIS Hextone neutral inks. Been
following the workflow and just have a question pertaining to this
paragraph........

"This workflow is the same as my workflow for the 4 color Epson
printers. Simply use the 6 color curve and printer settings. This
curve will work best if you monitor is set to a gamma of 2.2. If it
is calibrated to another gamma, you will have to adjust the curve
– mostly the toe. If you are not comfortable with editing curves,
simply make a second curve or levels adjustment layer and use
it to adjust print output to your monitor."

does anyone know if its ok to just assign your profile for that file
to gamma 2.2, or does the whole monitor actually have to be
calibrated to 2.2?

thanks!

Jen:

I assume you are using John Woolf's workflow.

If you want to have a decent match between what you see on your
monitor and the print then the gamma of the monitor and image and
printer should be set to 2.2. As John says, you can mix 2.2 and 1.8
gammas, but you will need to tweak the curve.
