Help with new site, comments welcom...

2003-11-16 by jsinger986

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but I need some opinions and beta testing...

I'm just finishing up a redesign of my website. I'd love to hear opinions of the new
site. And, of course, I'd like to know of any problems you may encounter. I've only
tested on a Mac with IE and Safari, so I'm not sure if everything lines up and works on
other platforms.

Comments on speed, image quality, and design are welcome.

Its still a work in progress, so any comments would be great to help put the finishing
touches on it.

Thanks,

Great images! I viewed the site via dsl connection and Safari. No probs re
speed etc. Very nice, clean layout. Only comment I have is that it would
be nice if the enlarged images were a bit bigger - they¹re not much larger
than the ³previews².

Cheers

Jeff's site worked well for me and my Mac with Internet Explorer
5.1.7. It came up fast despite my slow connection. The image quality
seemed fine to me. My only suggestions have to do with the site's
typography. I'd reconsider the type faces used for heads and
sub-heads because they seem to me too spindly, at least in the weight
in which their faces are used. I wouldn't use the shorter lines on
every other line on the text pages, and I'd center the captions under
the images. I think the face used for text would also work well in
slightly larger sizes for heads and sub-heads. If it's not Verdana,
I'd try substituting Verdana because Microsoft has ensured that
almost every computer has it, and it (and its companion, Georgia)
work at least as well as any other screen face.

Not home at the moment (working with girfriend's computer), but
it looks good from here. Elegant, simple touch, which I prefer.

Using:

Power Mac G3 (beige)
IE 5.1
56k connection

I appreciate all the feedback on and off list. My new site is now live. I'm still working
on it so any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I love getting feedback because its quite funny at times... I can get an email from one
person saying "I love feature A but hate feature B." Then, I get an email from someone
else saying "I hate feature A but love feature B." It just goes to show its all in the eye
of the beholder.

Thanks again.
