Still couldn't find the right thing even there - they all looked
to 'processed or photoshopped'. This is starting to be a holy grail
quest....

Unfortunately, I believe the free border programs will have that look. The
one I use is from Autofx.com. Works great and has many features beyond just
borders, but it also is around $200.00

I created my own "photo edge" based loosely on a 4 x 5 Chrome negative...

http://www.pbase.com/image/23622975.jpg

I uploaded the template to the "files" section of this group.

The template I uploaded is a layered Photoshop 6 file, 3000 pixels wide
by 2000 pixels high (the dimensions of the images coming out of my D100.
Feel free to modify it to suit your needs.

Mike, although I did the same thing in photoshop as a layer mask with
those black borders, I would nevertheless look at your solution:
Where is it in the files section, I can't find it?

THanks, Bernie

Maybe a dumb question but, which folder did you upload the layered file to?

It's not in that folder.. for some reason I can't upload files to that
folder, so I uploaded them to another group.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/blackandwhitedigital/files/

Sorry if you'll have to join that group to access the file.

Does anybody know how I can get access to upload files to the
DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint group?

Thanks,

m

I think that uploading to this group is restricted. Only the
moderators (Martin Wesley and/or Antonis Ricos) can upload to the
files section.

[Digital BW] Re: sloppy borders...

you are better off scanning master border off your own photo and
pasting new photos into it. I haven't seen any commercially
available borders that look that good. Also, a sloppy border is
something like a personal signature, it should be yours.

Re: [Digital BW] Re: sloppy borders...

2003-11-25 by Mike Sommers

If you're going to take this route, you're probably better off just
using the scanned master border as a reference.. masking out the photo
from the border isn't easy and will most likely result in pixelation
around the edges.

or you can just use mine as a starting point and tweak to your liking.
It's a layered file, should be pretty straightforward.
