I have also tested the Sigma SD-9 (SD-10 will be even better) with the X3 sensor, which as a consultant, I pushed them hard to develop. I really like the sharpness of the X3 chip and they have managed to match the amazing color response of their original prism camera to the point where's it's hard to tell them apart side by side, except the X3 is sharper.......without Quarter Wave Plate and prisms in the way, plus the 9 micron well site pitch is less taxing on the glass than the orinal's 6 micron pitch. Also no anti aliasing filter is used on the X3 as the silicon senses full RGB color data at every point, just like film (color or B&W). The B&W prints I have shown from it have impressed the traditional darkroom guys doing only optical printing. They might not be so impressive to the advanced crowd here, but then again, they could be. Contact me off list and I can Email you the file if you wish.
