Doing BO now. Where does Eboni go????

Doing BO now. Where does Eboni go????

2003-12-03 by Don

Just want to thank Clayton and some other folks here who helped me
get started doing the Black Only routine on my Epson 2200!

Frankly I just love the prints I'm getting now with Matte Black UC
and both EEM and Radiant Watercolor paper.

But..... I would like to cut back if possible on the warmth. So I
thought I would order the Eboni cartridge like Clayton suggested..

But. Does it work on matte finished paper? Does it just go into the
regular Matte cartridge slot? Any reassurance or tips here would be
appreciated!

That's good news! Glad you got started ok.

Yes.

Yes.

The Epson carts have a "poppet valve" which pretty well seals the ink
exit hole in the bottom of the cart when it is removed. Place the
cart in a sealable sandwich bag and squeeze out all the air. This
will help keep it from drying out so it can be reinstalled if you want
to use it later.

The Eboni cart does not have the poppet valve, so if you want to
remove it to swap inks, be prepared to put tape over the exit hole to
keep ink from leaking out. A drop or two often spills while doing
this, so it can be a bit of a mess. I usually do it over a paper
towel or something. These carts probably won't store as long as Epson
ones, but I don't know what the limit is...maybe Paul or Daniel want
to add something here...

Regards,
Clayton

Don't know about the MIS carts (haven't tried them), but I have Epson
carts that I refilled for the first time ten months ago that are still
working fine. I haven't bothered to seal them either, they're just
standing next to the printer when I'm not using them. It'll be
interesting to see how long they can last.

Thanks again Clayton for these further tips. I really love the black
only results so far
and can't wait to try the Eboni.
