1160 Intermittent Banding

1160 Intermittent Banding

2003-12-05 by rbehr2001

Having a problem with intermittent banding on my 1160. The printer
has a nomorecarts CFS and MIS VM ink. On three identical 13x19 prints
made at the same time one print is fine, one shows light banding
across the entire print, and a third has severe banding across half
of the print and the other half is fine.

The problem then disappeared for a while. In the last few days I've
been making a lot of grayscale tests to do some calibration.
Yesterday I made a small test print in the morning that had
significant banding but only above 50% Grey. The gray patches were
arranged on the sheet such that the banding should have crossed all
shades of gray but the banding was only at 50% and above, seeming to
make dark gray the culprit. The same print made this morning is fine.

Is this normal banding? The only previous banding experience I've had
it was there all the time.

Bob: When was the last time you cleaned the printhead? Intermittent
banding on my 1160 is usually eliminated by cleaning the bottom the
the print head and the parking pad and running a couple of nozzle
cleaning cycles.

Jeff,

Nozzle checks are fine and ran cleaning cycles anyway. Head alignment
is good. Sorry, should have included that in original question.

I'm trying Phil's suggestion of raising the bottles and so far it
looks good.

Thanks
