anyone have any experiecne or comments on using epson velvet fine art paper with black only on an epson 2200 with either matt black or eboni? Jerry happily printing on my new epson 2200, but still waiting for my ebonis inks to arrive

Don't have the printer, but have seen beautiful neutral dense blacks from using Epson matte black on the velvet paper. This was using RGB (all inks) though. Will be trying it myself after Christmas :~) Incidentally, the result was no where near as good on some fine matte art papers. Don't know if it was the surface of the velvet being tuned for ultrachrome or what. I was surprised. Scott --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "jerdiakiw" <jdiakiw@e...> wrote:

Those make excellent B&W prints, if you use the Arches profile. They look just like B&W prints from the 1970s-1980s. Deep shadows, lots of gray tones, soft whites. The texture of the paper is just right, too. The Epson Velvet Fine Art paper is much heavier. It's even heavier than the Arches Infinity Smooth in the heavier weight. The prints are OK, but not nearly as nice as Arches Infinity. Cheers, Mitch

mitch, I'll try that . I am new at this but when you say use the arches profile, just how and where do I do that? Right now I am seeing all the epson papers appear on the various windows so it is straight forward if I switch to hannemuhle rag or arches infinity smooth where do I plug in the profiles? jerry IDigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Glenn Mitchell" <gmitchel850@y...> wrote: > --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "jerdiakiw" > <jdiakiw@e...> wrote: > > anyone have any experiecne or comments on using epson velvet fine > > art paper with black only on an epson 2200 with either matt black > or > > eboni? > > Jerry > > happily printing on my new epson 2200, but still waiting for my > > ebonis inks to arrive > > The best results I've had on the Epson 2200 with Black Only ink was > to use Arches Infinity Smooth in the lighter weight.
