Help choosing BW CIS system

Help choosing BW CIS system

2003-12-07 by bmg5

Hi,
I am interested in moving to a CIS BW inkset for my Epson 1280. I
have been looking at MIS UT vs Pezio. The MIS UT with 4oz bottles
(full) and the CIS cart is $215 (with free published curves). The
Pezio setup (for similar) is closer to $750. Am I missing
something? Can someone help me understand why I would pay $500 more
for the Pezio? And on the rare occasion I want to print color from
the 1280 is it realistic (with a cleaning cart) to switch back and
forth color carts to BW CIS?

Thanks in advance
Brian

My personal view is that you're not missing a thing with the lower
cost MIS system. (OK, others may differ) You've just refused to fall
into the trap of believing more expensive is better.

I love my MIS CFS with UT inks but always suggest others try carts
first. Much lower costs to try and a bit simpler as well.

Switching to color with a 1280 can be done without cleaning carts and
is not too hard. Just pop out the b&w carts (CFS or otherwise) pop in
color carts, run a cleaning cycle and you're set to go. However
pulling out CFS carts is always a bit risky as the CFS may not work
right when you put them back in. I find another printer for color is
just more reliable.
