QTR and 2880dpi

2003-12-17 by stevekale@btinternet.com

I am puzzled by the following. If people are reporting very attractive results using BO
at 2880dpi on the 2100/2200, why is it that when using QTR it is recommended to
use 1440x720HQ because 2880ppi floods the paper with too much ink? Presumably
in a deep black area BO @ 2880ppi would approach maximum ink deposit, exceeding
1440x720HQ by a considerable margin.

For me 2880dpi works fine, but 1440x1440dpi floods the paper with ink.
When I say 'floods' I mean literally. The ink is laid down so thick it
looks like a shiny, wax-like substance that sits on top of the paper.
Where the ink hasn't dried yet it lies in wet pools on the paper.

It's interesting, because you can see that at a certain point there is
absolutely no more gain in dmax, the ink just gets thicker and shinier.
That's with Eboni, not sure how other black inks will look.

hi steve
from what i understand the flooding is a glitch within
gimp-print. when people are printing BO on a 2200 they
are likely just using the standard epson driver and
not gimp-print.
right on
