Hi,

Dont know if its the same problem I had coz I dont know if u have CIS installed, but are your CIS tanks lying at a height lower than ur printer?? the levels shd be just in plane with the head... just a thought! (if cis bottles r kept below, they create a suction effect and the ink overflows)

  Hi folks,

at the URL below I have scanned in a portion of a print to illustrate my
  problem.

  http://www.sinfin.com/smudges.jpg

I just installed the UltraTone inks which arrived from MIS today (I
ordered them last Friday afternoon). Very easy to use. Great prints!
I've fired off about a dozen at this point and I'm quite impressed.

Unfortunately, after the 4th or 5th print on my Epson 1280 I began
noticing smudges in the same general spot on each of my prints.

I ran a nozzle check before I started printing, and after cancelling the
  job. Things look fine there.

I have used the following inks prior to the Ultra Tones:

  OEM (used the full cartridge)
MIS Original Achive (used 90% of the cartridge)
MIS UltraTones (my current inks. Twelve 8x10's)

Any ideas what this may be? Clogged head? or some type of overflow
problem? There is definitely more ink being laid down in those smudges.
Why is it always happening in the same area on each print?

What can I do to fix the problem? I'm leaving town tomorrow and the 1280
will sit idle for two weeks. Should I just let it rest and see what
happens when I get home? or will letting it sit like this make the
problem worse? There is still a little ink left in the MIS Original
Archive cartridge (color, pigments) Should I pop that back in and run a
  test print?

Thanks for a great forum! I'm very excited about the possibilities with
  this setup.

  Mike
