New Epson 4000 and auto nozzle unclogging

Anyone care to speculate whether this will actually work as advertised? Wonder if it will work for third party inks? My 1280, despite every effort on my part, consistantly clogs at least some nozzles, making it a lovely $350 paperweight. I want to know that what ever I purchase in the future will become a matching paper weight!
