Lyson 310 Standard Fine Art Paper - It has a better price, comes packed in a
box and is less expensive at Photofile, 466 Central Ave, Northfield, Il
60093-3041. Phone: 847-441-5450. I print this paper on a Epson 1200 with
Fotonic Inks using exactly the same profile as the Hahnemuele Photo Rag
(profiles for most printers are provided by Lyson and seem to be fairly
accurate) I've been very happy with the results and the savings. It is sold
in boxes of 50 sheets.

Re: Photo Rag replacement/Lyson

While it is true that Hahnemuhle makes the Lyson papers, please note that the coating
is meant for Lyson inks only. It is intended to be compatible with the acid
requirements of dyes.
I don't believe there are any fade tests to reasure us that it is OK to use Lyson-coated
papers for pigment inks such as Piezotones, UT, UC etc. Use
at your own risk.

That said, it's worth noting that the Lyson dyes are capable of deep black on matte
Lyson papers and better compatibility with glossy-type papers than pigment inks.
Just because they are dyes, it may not mean that they are inferior to pigments in
archival stability (assuming they are used on their "own" papers). If anyone knows of a
direct comparison of fade reistance between Lyson and the current pigment
champions, please post.

Antonis
