Hi. I read Epson's PDF files that mention the specifications for Velvet Fine Art, Watercolor, and Enhanced Matte papers and I couldn't determine if the papers have optical brightening agents (OBA's). Well, do they? Thank you.

Best way to be sure is buy a black lite and illuminate the papers with it in a darkened room. Sorry, while I do have a blacklite, I don't have those Epson papers here to test for you. Papers with OBA's will fluoresce, those without OBAs will be optically "dead". When you have a paper with OBAs next to a paper without OBA's, the difference is very noticeable. Some papers will show occasional flacks of fluorescence, because rag papers are often produced from textile cuttings which may have had OBA's added during the textile production process. Currently all our base papers are OBA free, but the coatings on Osprey, Merlin, Condor, Condor BriteWhite and Kestrel BriteWhite have OBAs added, while our Nighthawk paper is entirely OBA free. We are producing a new line of coatings (Osprey Natural, Condor Natural, and Kestrel Natural) which will be OBA free - plan to debut at PMA in February. Diana York mailto:diana@... Thanks John and Diana. VFA is such a nice paper. So since VFA has OBA's this means that it will "yellow" in time? Even if it's under glass? That's disappointing. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Diana York" <diana@h...> wrote: > Best way to be sure is buy a black lite and illuminate the papers with it in a darkened room.
