UT-2200

UT-2200

2004-01-23 by Paul Roark

There's good news and bad news.

The bad news is that UT2 does not work in the 2200.

The good news is that I have a beta UT-2200 inkset that seems to fix the
problems and runs well.

Relative to the 1280, the worst thing I've found about the 2200 is the
relative lack of paper type settings. The best thing is the individual
carts that will facilitate easy custom ink mixing for the yellow (default
sepia) cart.

Presumably this does not bode well for the 4000? Will there need to be a
UT-4000? I must admit I am still making my way thru all the ³who needs a
4000² posts but I am attracted by the extra size more so than the dual
blacks and so was hoping that the 4000 would remain at the forefront of
development....when it becomes available.

Steve,

I'd say the 4000 is justified only if you need larger than 13" paper. The
2200 with Eboni installed is printing Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl with a
dmax of 2.35 with the UT-2200 beta (which may be released next week as a
beta inkset).

The 4000 still is my target. However, the small, individual inks of the
2200 are sure nice.
