Swapping blacks in 2100

2004-01-27 by Steve Kale

Ok I know this has come up before but I think I have tried everything. I made the
mistake of attempting to swap the MK cartridge for the PK cartridge in my 2100. And
guess what - jobs stopped. I have added back the MK cartridge and deleted the
printer, put in the PK cartidge and added the printer. I have turned the printer off and
deleted the printer, turned it back on and then swapped the cartridges and readded it.
I have Print Center Repair about 10 times. I must be doing something in the wrong
order....help!

Cheers

Steve

not really - it's a really crappy Epson feature that they need to fix...
Sounds like you are on a mac?

Not sure if this will work for you, but on a PC, as a last resort shut down
the computer and printer. unplug the power for the printer (i.e. pull the
plug out of the wall) for at least 30 seconds. Plug it back in switch it on
and then restart your mac. Might work

Steve,

delete all 2100 printers you generated. Maybe relog or reboot.

Put PK cart in the printer, switch it on and generate new 2100
printer named something as "2100 PK". Change cart to MK, and generate
another 2100 printer named "2100 MK". It should work now.

The reason is the native X printer driver is not able to communicate
with printer and recognize if there is PK or MK. But in a moment the
job runs into printer, the printer itself recognizes that there is
wrong ink and stops the printing.

I am intrigued as to how you rename the printers and as a result can have an
MK printer in place alongside a PK printer?

Sorry I have answered my own question. I am amazed how often editable
fields on the Mac are hidden under icons like Show Info! PK printing now
working. Will try swapping back to MK to see if I can switch with ease now.
If so this will be very useful advice for Mac 2100/2200 owners no more
deleting and adding printers all the time.

Thanks

Martin

That was a very helpful tip thanks a lot! It seems I am able to switch
between PK and MK now without having to add and delete printers.
