Digital BW, The Print

Hello Everyone,

I have an Epson 9500 and I am looking for advice on switching to 
hextone inks. I've been working with the standard MIS inks on my old 
1200 for a few years, never with quite the results I had been hoping 
for. So I'm understandably hesitant about committing my 9500 in this 
way. Any recommendations out there would be greatly appreciated. I am 
running a Mac (1.8 gamma) with Photoshop CS.

I use the MIS Ultra Tone inkset in my 7500 and have been very pleased with
the output.  I have control curves that I use with the 7000 driver.  (It
seemed to work better.)  On Macs some have reported being unable to drive
their 7500 with the 7000 driver.  (I use a PC.)  Aside from this possible
glitch, the curves I have do work on the 9000/9500.

(On more modern printers I'm recommending the UT2, but I tried it on the
7500 this week, and the old machine is not up to the job.)
