Re: [Digital BW] Re: Adobe Photoshop CS Memory Bug - in Windows AND OS X

Steven, With PS7, my scratch files used to be in multiples of 2GB. So you wouldn't find a 4GB file, but two (or three or four) x 2GB files, if it ever needed more than one. Haven't looked at my CS scratch disk lately, but I imagine it's probably the same. Have you defragged the drive on which the scratch files are written? I think it needs continuous free space for each scratch file. Have you set alternative locations for the scratch files if the first location is full (or not defragmented)? I have one 8GB partition (on a second hard disk) that I keep free for the scratch files. It is not used for anything else, so it won't get fragmented (unless PS crashes and leaves remnants of old scratch files, and I think it now clears up afterwards if it does this). Bob Frost.

----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven Karafyllakis" <steve@...> What I'm getting is an absolute refusal by CS to use more than 4GB of scratch disk. I've given it as much as 12GB, and every time I get the 'scratch disks full' notice, when I check the swap disc it's always under 4GB.I hope they fix it soon!
