I currently have PS 7 installed on Win98. Does anyone know if I can
upgrade to PS CS over the same system or do I have to also upgrade to
  XP? Thanks.

Paul,

I don't understand why people find XP a 'shock to the system'. If you don't
like the new somewhat garish desktop then simply choose the 'classic'
desktop - it is there as an alternative, and if you don't like the XP way of
showing the start menu or files etc, choose the 'classic' start menu or
classic file look. It then looks just like Win98, except that it doesn't
crash, and is generally much better behaved. Things like System Restore and
ASR backup are worth a fortune in time saved reinstalling to get over major
program cockups. At last program makers have no one to blame but themselves
when their programs crash. They very rarely take out XP as well; so can't
blame XP for crashing. And you can usually run the crashed program again
immediately, without having to reboot to clear all the problems away.

Being an oldie in computer usage - I've still got my Sinclair QL that I
wrote database programs for about 20 years or more ago, I've never got used
to My Documents, My Pictures, etc., but you don't have to use them. Just
ignore them and set up your own document and picture folders just like you
have done since MSDOS came out. The new way of doing things is supposed to
be easier for newbies; it may be, but after years of doing things the old
way, it is hard to change. But the underlying technology of XP is lightyears
ahead of Windows 3, 95, 98, ME, etc. And from what I read on various Mac
lists, it is ahead of them as well!!

However, I am apprehensive about the new changes that are talked about for
the next incarnation of Windows. Then it seems we may not be able to see
folders, and set up our own. But with a bit of luck, XP might still do the
job, and save my brain from changing its long burnt-in pathways.

Bob Frost.

You need 2K or XP. You can probably find 2K cheap, and you may also find
that it's less of a shock to the system. (Your mental system, not your
computer.)

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
