After months of experimenting, I found that if I convert my RGB image to LAB color mode and do everything else including printing in LAB mode, I do not get matamarism or color casts to my monochrome images. I use matte paper with -mk profile, perceptual, best photo 1440 dpi colormanagement ICM high speed off. Hope this is of some help to someone. Lewis

After a year of trial and error printing black and white with the Epson 2200 and Epson color inks and never being satisfied because of variable color casts and metamerism, I have stumbled on the cure. Basically I follow Schofields printing methods until the end where I used to select ICM, under color management, I now select photoenhance, for tone, select monochrome, for effect select sharpness or none. Try it you'll like it Lewis Lauring

Lewis, The "Photorealistic method" was one of the first things I tried after getting a 2200 about two years ago, but it is not immune to metamerism and there are better ways to get neutral, metamerism free prints today. I would suggest using either a RIP (QuadtoneRIP, IJC/OPM, or ImagePrint) with the UC inks to get metamerism free prints or alternatively print using only the black ink or use the MIS UT7 inkset.
