banding when doing BO printing, 2200

2004-03-14 by Ian

I am doing a lot of black ink only printing with my epson 2200 (untill
I can afford pizo) sometimes I get some banding parallel to the motion
of the print head(I dont know if this is considerd vert or hor) I have
run through the print head align. a few times and still get it. I dont
seem to have any problems when doing color printing but I find myself
wanting to do mostly B&W lately so this is very fustrating. Do any of
you know what is causing this? thanks, Ian.

Hello Ian,

1) Are you getting good nozzle checks?

2) Does it make any difference if you switch from Hi to Low speed or
vice versa?

3) You said "sometimes" - is there any pattern to when it does and
doesn't happen?

4) What black ink are you using?

Regards,
Clayton

What printer resolution are you using? Should be at least 1440. 2880
should eliminate the lines.

I get banding if it is set to high speed. Changing it to low speed
eliminates banding for me.

BTW I have been using Piezo for years now and since I started using the
2200 in BO, the piezo system sits and collects dust.

I've seen slight banding at 1440 that disappears at 2880 on a 9600.
