UT2 support for epson 1200 and 1270 printers

UT2 support for epson 1200 and 1270 printers

2004-04-04 by dhaaron69

According to the mis website it appears that mis has dropped its UT2
support for the epson 1200 and 1270 printers. I have two epson 1200
printers running the mis original quad inks on and had planned on
running the UT2 ink on the 1270.

If this is the case, has anyone experimented with UT2 inks on a 1270.

I've read that using the 1280 driver with the 1270 printer and
1280
workflow curves might be a possible work around , Has anyone tried
this.

I actually like the original mis quad inks on crane museo paper,
except for the warm fade they exibit when exposed to daylight.

I did some testing with UT2 on the 1270. My first finding was that it
was necessary to use the 1280 driver. With that driver the stepwedges
looked pretty good. The other finding was that the prints on matte
paper were fine, but there were unacceptable artifacts with glossy
paper.

Its certainly worth trying a couple of cartridges and seeing what you
find.

Paul and I exchanged some emails and basically he mentioned the 1200 is not up to the
task of running the UT2 - dots are too big.

Regarding the 1270, as mentioned the 1270 can print on matte paper but not on glossy
paper - the UT2 inks with Ebony ink can print on glossy papers with the supported
printers.

I have both 1160s and 1200s printers but decided to get a refurbed 890 to work with UT2
inks - been using Paul's 1280 curves and QTR with great results.
