UT2/UT7 vs piezography

UT2/UT7 vs piezography

2004-04-05 by markjamesfisher

I own a 2200 (on a PC) and thought it would be the solution for black
and white printing. After a lot of playing around, I've convinced
myself that it is printing as well as it can(I've tried BO printing
and it just did not do it for me). Or at least I was convinced until
I went back to my darkroom and printed some images. I've seen some
truely amazing inkjet BW prints so I would like to try BW inks. It
looks like MIS and Piezo will both have 2200 solutions in the not-too-
distant future. I understand that the workflow for the UT inks may
be a little more involved, but I am sure I can deal with that. What
are the real world differences between the prints made with the two
systems? Opinions????

Thanks -- Mark

Mark, the following yahoo forum discusses this subject at length. In
particular check out the extensive knowledge of Paul Roark who frequents
this forum. There will be a new set of inks for the 2200 available very
soon from MIS called UT7.
