HP 59 grey cartridge ink usage

HP 59 grey cartridge ink usage

2004-04-09 by Steve Bell

I've just bought an HP 7660 to use with the 59 cartridge printing B&W on the
HP premium plus photo paper matt, and am concerned by what appears to be
high ink usage. After 4 A4 prints the ink is shown as 70% left. Is this normal
usage? I'm using under OSX 10.3.3 with the 2.3.7 driver. I've got some night
shots to print tomorrow, I hate to think how all that extra black will eat into the
remaining ink.

that is just a rough estimate of what you have in the carts. I get
atleast 35% more prints from my 7660 after it says I'm empty. Really
it serve no purpose other than to warn you that you should probably
buy a new cart... of course they stock them at Target so it's not
like you have to plan your purchases like you do with a 2200 in most
smaller cities (ie. mail order only).

Thanks, thats better news. I'm only used to Epson printers, where once the red ink out
light comes on the printer stops printing until you replace the cartridge.
