ImagePrint vs the Roark workflow with Quadtones
2004-04-11 by himwich@intrex.net
I downloaded the demo version of ImagePrint and straightforwardly printed an image that I have previously printed with the Roark workflow with Quadtone inks. Among the subtle differences between the two resulting prints, there is a very noticable difference in the darkest portions of the two prints. The subject is wearing some dark, pleated trousers. On the ImagePrint print, the blacks are pretty good. The pleats show up as black and the other portions of the trousers are a different but very dark gray. On the Roark workflow print there is still some small concentrations of black where it should be but in the same area there are some portions that are not as dark. The effect is that of globs of black on very dark gray. On close examination of the print, this looks terrible. Any suggestions? If I could do the Roark workflow, I would prefer that a whole bunch. That $500 could easily be spent on some other toy. Thanks in advance
