frustrated because of inconsistancies with ut2

some of my prints look terrific. Others, especially landscapes, are a problem. Here's an example. The shot is in Big Bend Nat'l Park. In the foreground are mesquite bushes, in the background, somewhat screened by haze is the Chisos mountain range under a dramatic sk. Using the neutral curve for Hanemuhle Rag on my 1280, the mesquite bushes are fuzzy, sort of like I used to get when trying to capure fur with an epson 1200, the mountain range is muddy and lacking in detail and differentiation and blacks, where they occur, stand out sharply from the rest of the picture instead of appearing as a natural part of it. Same picture using ultrachrome inks on my 2200 has an annoying cast, but is crisp and generally all relationships are good and detail is as presented on my monitor. What am I doing wrong. Will ut2 work better with the bowhaus driver. I'm running OS9 so qtr is out of the question. Mike
